Biography:
Pierre Sicard (1900 - 1981):
Son of sculptor François Sicard.
Pierre Sicard focused on painting, exhibiting in Paris for the first time in 1924.
His work, rather post-impressionist in style, is marked by the recurring theme of Parisian life.
Pierre Sicard exhibited in the United States in March 1936 at the Galerie Marie Sterner in New York.
In 1946, he exhibited at the Galerie Bignou in New York, and in 1949, after many trips and residences in Europe, he settled in California and became a naturalized American citizen.
In 1951, he exhibited at the Dalzell Hatfield Gallery in Los Angeles and at the Carstairs Gallery, whose catalog text was signed by Jean Renoir. American critics described his paintings as "post-impressionist landscapes".
He continued to exhibit in the above-mentioned galleries throughout his life.
Many of Pierre Sicard's paintings are held in the "Cabinet des Estampes de Paris", at the Museum of Modern Arts, while the painting "Le Pigalle", dated 1925 by Pierre Sicard, is held at the Museum Carnavalet.
