Pair of Louis XVI style ormolu sconces with child musicians late 19th century
Une élégante et décorative paire d’appliques à trois bras de lumière dans le style Louis XVI, en bronze finement ciselé dans une magnifique dorure, à décor de bustes d’enfants musiciens soufflant dans des fifres, feuilles d’acanthes entrecroisées, rinceaux feuillagés, enroulements de thyrses, fûts en carquois.
Beyond the differences and interpretation, these sconces are stylistically close to the model supplied by Jean Hauré in 1787 for the Château de Saint-Cloud, a copy of which is in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
Beautiful French work from the late 19th century.
