Pair of Louis XVI style ormolu sconces with child musicians late 19th century

An elegant and decorative pair of Louis XVI-style three-light sconces in bronze finely chiseled and beautifully gilded, decorated with busts of child musicians blowing fifes, intertwined acanthus leaves, foliage scrolls, thyrses scrolls, and quiver-like shafts.

Beyond the differences and interpretation, these sconces are stylistically close to the model supplied by Jean Hauré in 1787 for the Château de Saint-Cloud, a copy of which is in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Beautiful French work from the late 19th century.

Sizes: H 19.65 In - Total H 23.62 In. - W 12.20 In - D 7.48 In.  Largeur 31 cm – Profondeur 19 cm.

Our sconces are in fine condition. They have been electrified to European standards and receive white opalines simulating candles. Upgrade to American standards on request.
