Large pair of French Louis XVI style sconces in chiseled gilt bronze circa 1850
An elegant, decorative, and large pair of sconces with three arms of light in finely chiseled bronze and presented in splendid gilding.
These sconces are based on 18th-century models by Feuchères, Duplessis, and Gouthière, some of which are in the Louvre.
They offer a magnificent decoration of chiseled and gilded bronze; large Louis XVI knots and flames at the damping; Acanthus leaves, horns of plenty, bunches of grapes make up the arms of light, the shafts in console coated with Acanthus leaves and ending with a vine leaf and a bunch of grapes.
Beautiful French work that is inspired by the great bronze masters of the 18th century, but from the French Napoleon III period, middle of the 19th century circa 1850-1870, in the most classical French Louis XVI style.
