Charles Eugène Cousin began his career as a landscape painter. He later found his niche painting views of Venice, where he spent many years. Cousin also traveled throughout Europe and the United States, exhibiting his work in several cities.

Views of Venice were a favorite subject for painters such as A Bouvard, A Lecoz, L Ziller, C Calderon and F Ziem. Charles Eugène Cousin follows in the footsteps of these prodigious artists. 

He also painted landscapes, still lifes and portraits.

Charles Eugène Cousin was an influential artist of his time, and his works are still highly valued and sought-after today by art collectors. His views of Venice continue to inspire painters and tourists visiting the city today.
