Auguste Henri Musin - The end of a beautiful calm day on the Meuse oil on panel circa 1900
A magnificent Impressionist painting enchanted by a bewitching light sublimated by these autumn colors.
At the end of a beautiful calm day, as usual, Auguste-Henri Musin names each of his paintings. The fishing is over, the boats are back at the end of the day, the colors far from giving a dramatic feeling bring appeasement.
Our painting is served by its handsome original frame in wood and stucco carved and gilded with foliage and flowers. It was proposed at the Exhibition of the Société Mâconnaise des Amis des Arts in 1907.
Fine oil on mahogany panel signed in the lower right corner by Auguste Musin circa 1900.
Measurements unframed: H 16.53 In. - W 14.17 In. : Hauteur 42 cm – Longueur 36 cm.
Measurements with frame: H 27.16 In. - W 24.80 In.
In excellent original condition, we present this painting in its original state, served by its beautiful wooden frame and gilded stucco of the period.
Biography:
Auguste-Henri Musin 1852-1923.
Born in Ostend, the artist studied under his father, François-Etienne Musin (1820-1888), and like him, he enjoyed rendering views of ports, beaches or the activity of fishermen in his marine paintings.
His paintings are treated in the spirit of the Impressionists that the artist will replace the very realistic rendering of his beginnings.
The museum of his birthplace as well as those of Ixelles and Brussels exhibit works by the painter.
