Attribué à Claude Galle – Paire de Flambeaux aux Merveilleuses en Bronze Patiné et Doré vers 1810
An elegant and rare pair of finely chiseled, patinated, and gilded bronze candlesticks, the fluted shafts surmounted by busts of three women known as Merveilleuses. The shafts end in three pairs of small feet, all resting on circular bases with flower friezes, edged with a frieze of stars and gadroons.
A fine French work from the Empire period circa 1810, attributed to the famous bronzemaker Claude Galle.
Dimensions : Hauteur 30 cm – Diamètre 14 cm.
Our candlesticks are in good condition, with some wear to the patina and gilding of the period, which adds to the charm of these collectible candlesticks.
Biography:
Claude Galle (1759 - 1815), was one of the most renowned Parisian bronze makers of the late 18th century and Empire period.
Dans un premier temps, il collabore avec le fondeur Antoine-André Ravrio et avec Jean-Hauré, puis sous l’Empire, il devient l’un des principaux concurrents de son confrère Pierre-Philippe Thomire et fournit de nombreux bronzes d’ameublement au Garde-meuble Impérial et aux plus grands amateurs de l’époque.
