A pair of very fine seats in perfect condition.

The seats of Adrien-Pierre Dupain are rare in the Art Market, as they are highly valued by collectors.

 

A pair of large armchairs called "à la Reine" in molded and carved beechwood, lacquered cream, enhanced with small flowers painted in blue, the backs with paintings, they rest on beautiful fluted tapered legs.

 

Beautiful French work stamped on the belts Dupain and stamped of the "Jurande des Menuisiers Ébénistes JME", circa 1780, French Louis XVI period.

 

Dimensions : Hauteur 91 cm – Largeur 59 cm – Profondeur 54 cm – hauteur d’assise 38 cm.

 

Our armchairs are in perfect condition. The old-style webbing upholstery and the horsehair stuffing have just been revised keeping a maximum of old elements. This pair of armchairs are covered with a beautiful Italian fabric woven with floral motifs in blue colors.

 

Biography Adrien-Pierre Dupain:

 

Reçu maître à Paris en 1772, cet habile menuisier s’établit rue de Charonne. 

Adrien-Pierre Dupain was a supplier to the crown, he produced seats for Queen Marie Antoinette for the Château de Saint-Cloud and obtained numerous orders for the Court of the King of France.

 

He also supplied many upholsterers and furniture dealers. 

Sa production, ralentie pendant la Révolution, reprit activement jusqu’au commencement de l’Empire.
