A pair of ormolu and patinated bronze sconces with child musicians late 19th century
An important and decorative pair of sconces with two arms of light in the Louis XVI style, in finely chiseled and gilded bronze with double patina, decorated with busts of child musicians blowing fifes, intertwined acanthus leaves, foliage scrolls, thyrses.
These sconces were made after the model delivered by Jean Hauré in 1787 for the Château de Saint-Cloud and of which a copy is kept in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
Beautiful French work of the late 19th century, our sconces are numbered on the back and bear a mark of bronzier, possibly Potheau Freres (House active circa 1881-1893).

Our sconces are in fine condition, it is just to report a slightly twisted pine cone in the lower part of one of the two sconces. They have been electrified to European standards and receive white opalines simulating candles.
