French Regence Period, Elegant Black-Lacquered Flat Desk with Gilt-Bronze Decoration Circa 1715-1723
The Regence Period furniture is rare; the period is short and at the same time very rich in the desire to change Decorative Arts. Our Flat-Desk is early in the Regence Period, by its austere appearance inherited from the Louis XIV Period and it begins to be inscribed by its enlivened forms in a softening that announces the Louis XV Period.
