Biography:

 

Jules Le Roy or Jules Gustave Leroy (1856-1921).

 

French painter, born 1853, died 1922 in Paris. Specialized in small-format paintings of animal scenes, mainly cats and kittens.

 

A pupil of Jules Adolphe Goupil, he debuted at the Salon in 1898, signing his works J. LeRoy.

 

His paintings are scattered and preserved in museums around the world.

 

Chats dans une commode, 1900, Oil on wood, bequest Henri Selosse in 1924 to the city of Roubaix, now in the Musée La Piscine, Musée d'Art et d'Industrie (Roubaix).
