Pierre-Antoine Bonnemain Pair of Directoire reverse-back armchairs in lacquered wood
An elegant pair of reversed-back armchairs in molded and carved natural wood and lacquered in gray, featuring a star and two crescent moons. The baluster armrests are carved with leaf motifs.
This pair of chairs consists of one stamped A.Bonnemain from the Directoire period and the other identical but made a little later in the 19th century.

Our armchairs are in fine condition. This pair of armchairs are covered with a beautiful Italian fabric woven with floral motifs in blue colors.
Biography:
Pierre Antoine Bonnemain born 1755, received the title of Master on September 20, 1772.
He is the son of Antoine Bonnemain, called Le Jeune to distinguish him from his brother Pierre Bonnemain.
He took over his father's workshop towards the end of the 18th century.
He was active under the Empire, winning orders from the French Empire Garde-Meuble.
