Flat desk in black lacquered veneer with gilt bronze decoration, Regence period circa 1715-1723
French Regence-period furniture of this quality is rare in the Art Market, the period being short and at the same time very rich for the Decorative Arts.
A rare, elegant, and decorative flat desk, in black lacquered veneer with gilt bronze decoration. It opens with three drawers that follow the movements of the front. The entire desk is underlined by ormolu decoration: espagnolettes, and ormolu rushes accentuating the lines of the legs terminating in superb finely chiseled cage shoes, inlaid with ormolu brass, the front embellished with ormolu pull handles and lock escutcheons.
The top is encircled by an ormolu moulding and a magnificent patinated red leather with black leather inlay, all decorated with a gilded roulette, executed by our craftsman leather, Artisan Gainier.
