Louis XV period walnut and blackened walnut molded and carved chest of drawers Dauphiné circa 1750-1760
An elegant "Sauteuse" chest of drawers in walnut and blackened walnut, molded and finely carved. Our chest features an arched front opening with two drawers, a solid walnut top, and rounded uprights resting on small doe-shoe feet, joined by an apron with a symmetrical Rocaille motif. Beautiful chased ormolu handles.
This Dauphiné commode from the Louis XV period is to be compared with the work of Jean-François Hache in Grenoble (1730-1796). The back assembly is typical of his work, and the sabot feet were used on the desks, while the commodes were fitted with pastille feet.
