Sign by Porceleyne Schotel, Pair of Faience Delft Round Dishes Tea Plant circa 1780

A decorative and rare pair of round Delft earthenware dishes, with blue and white Tea Tree or Theeboom decoration. These Tea Tree dishes generally have scalloped edges and the decorations on the rims may vary. The medallion decorations in the rims are reinterpretations by Delft porcelain manufacturers of Chinese export porcelain from the Kangxi period (1662-1722).

Our dishes are marked Porcelaine Schotel (1597-1791), under the leadership of Ysbrand Van Duijn (1773-1791).

Very fine late 18th-century Delft faience work, circa 1780.

Sizes: Diameter 13.38 In - Depth 1.96 In.

A series of four of these dishes are in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Delft Faience, and Ceramics Department.

Very good condition, with a few chips.
